Turn Off Email Notifications on Twitter

Twitter sends you an email when you get a new follower or a direct message.
Last week, it switched on default email alerts for
-when your receive a mention as in@wwwNomad
-retweet or when you’re tweets are marked as favourites.
If you are using twitter extensively then to avoid spam in your inbox, turn off notifications

Twitter.com > settings > notifications and uncheck.
